PTC Students 2011 - 2012
Held in the stimulating atmosphere of The Purcell School of Music in Hertfordshire (just off J5 of the M1 - with easy access to London and the UK) the course continues to benefit from excellent, updated facilities. The new music building includes a lecture-recital room and fleet of Steinway and Fazioli pianos; the new accommodation block has single bedrooms with nearby bathrooms and common rooms with tea and coffee making facilities, and exceptional meals are regularly provided in the recently refurbished dining room.
The Piano Teachers' Course is part time, designed to suit those with other commitments, and held over one academic year from October to June. It consists of four residential weekends, two study Sundays and independent study.
The course consists of two modules:
And leads to The Certificate of the Piano Teachers’ Course (Cert PTC) Qualification
With its breadth and depth of pedagogy, practical application and relevant written assignments, and with the support and guidance of the PTC tutors, the course also provides excellent grounding and preparation for those taking Piano Teaching Diplomas.
There are Open Days available, offering the opportunity to attend a day during the current course. To observe some sessions, look around the venue - and talk to the tutors and students.
The cost of an Open Day is £80. This can be refunded against the cost of the whole course 2013-2014: £1,999, inclusive of accommodation and meals, with reductions for early booking and EPTA membership.
