PTC Students 2011 - 2012
Now in its fourth year, the EPTA UK – Purcell School’s Practical Piano Teaching Course has been renamed The Piano Teachers’ Course, or PTC. Still as practical as ever, having established itself as the UK’s leading professional development course, solely for piano teachers, it continues to be a place where beginning and experienced piano teachers come together for inspiration, refreshment and support from each other and from the leading names in the profession.
Held in the stimulating atmosphere of The Purcell School of Music (very accessible by road or rail), the course continues to benefit from excellent, updated facilities: The new music building includes a lecture-recital room and fleet of Steinway and Fazioli pianos, the new accommodation block has single bedrooms with nearby bathrooms and common rooms with tea and coffee making facilities, and delicious meals are regularly provided in the newly refurbished dining room.
The Piano Teachers' Course is part time, designed to suit those with other commitments, and held over one academic year from October to June. It consists of three residential weekends, four study days (on Sundays) and independent study.
There are two modules:
Module A on Practical Piano Teaching, starting in October 2012
Module B on Pianism and the Piano Teacher starting in March 2013.
It leads to The Certificate of the Piano Teachers’ Course (Cert PTC), and is accredited by Reading University.
With its breadth and depth of pedagogy, practical application and relevant written assignments, and with the support and guidance of the PTC tutors, the course also provides excellent grounding and preparation for those taking Piano Teaching Diplomas.
There are Taster Days for you to see whether you would like to enroll on the full course, or just enjoy a day of Professional Development with eminent professionals.
The cost of a Taster Day is £75. This can be refunded against the cost of the whole course 2012-2013: £1795.00, inclusive of accommodation and meals, with reductions for early booking and EPTA membership.
